Arts InFusion focuses on integrating the arts throughout the school curriculum subjects working with individual schools to design programs, provide resource connections and create a lasting presence of arts in the schools. Students are engaged in whatever subject they're currently being taught. The East Side Arts Council draws on the talents of local, professional artists, trained to work with students. These artists bring children the enriching experiences of music, dance, visual art, theater, and storytelling, helping schools meet curriculum content standards. The Arts InFusion Project helps urban schools maximize the powerful tools the arts bring to the classroom, building resonant learning experiences for an underserved, diverse constituency.

East Side Arts Council’s ArtsYES (Arts for Youth on the East Side) program brings high-quality, professional arts experiences to East Side children, engaging them in their surroundings while building self-esteem, creative skills, and promoting academic success.
While many youth living on the East Side of St. Paul get a taste for the arts through a brief program at a school assembly or demonstration in a classroom, there are few opportunities for them to thoroughly engage in high-quality arts experiences that extend beyond the school day.

Many families in the Dayton’s Bluff and Payne/Phalen neighborhoods need to rely on quality after-school and summer learning opportunities to ensure children have a safe and engaging place to be when guardians are working. Yet many families on the East Side face cost, transportation and language barriers to participation.
The EastSide KidVentureis a collaborative effort of the East Side Learning Collaborative, comprised of 21 community-based organizations whose vision is to guide and support our children by providing them with tools to move into adulthood. This program offers school-year and summer learning opportunity with roles for youth K-12th grade which emphasizes neighborhood and cultural identity for youth. As the school-year project successfully fell into place this year, the East Side Arts Council increased our level of leadership in the EastSide KidVenture planning group by providing artists and designing the camps with the other organizations who serve on the planning committee.

Phalen Poetry Park is a small almost hidden, community garden sponsored by the East Side Arts Council. It is playfully designed as a sleepy dragon whose spikes of feather reed grass encircle a dry pebble pond where children hop from stone to stone. Benches cast in the shape of open books invite contemplation and enjoyment of the plantings. A path winds to both the Poetry Post, a sculptural piece featuring local poets and students, and to the Marimba Benches, welcoming you to tap out a tune. The garden can be easily accessed from the parking lot of the Phalen Recreation Center, 1000 Wheelock Parkway. Interested in becoming a volunteer? Join us every Wednesday evening at 6:30PM, no experience necessary.

Packed with supplies, the Artmobile! van winds through the streets of the East Side for seven weeks during the summer- rain or shine, sticky or cool, often departing with a “when are you coming again?” from one of the many eager kids awaiting it’s next arrival.
